It is being reported that Federal officials searched Democrat state Rep. Keith Farnham’s Elgin legislative office and his home Thursday.
A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office said a search warrant was executed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations officials as part of an “ongoing investigation.”
The federal agency’s website describes its activities like this: “HSI investigates immigration crime, human rights violations and human smuggling, smuggling of narcotics, weapons and other types of contraband, financial crimes, cybercrime and export enforcement issues. ICE special agents conduct investigations aimed at protecting critical infrastructure industries that are vulnerable to sabotage, attack or exploitation.”
Neither Farnham nor a spokesman for Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan had any comment.
