DOWNERS GROVE - The Downers Grove Township Republican Organization (DGTRO) today endorsed Bert Miller for the 11th Congressional District, and Keith Matune for the 81st House District.
"Bert Miller (photo right) is not a career politician," DGTRO chairman Brian Krajewski said. "He's not like some of the other candidates in this race who believe they're entitled to the nomination. Bert's been working the District hard, knocking on doors and earning the voters' support. Bert Miller has our vote."
Miller said he was honored to accept the endorsement, noting: "As I've been campaigning and speaking to groups and individuals, one thing is clear ... that people want jobs, they want to see Obamacare repealed or overhauled, they want to cut spending and they want to save Social Security. Those are the very priorities I'll take to Washington."
Concerning the organization's endorsement of Keith Matune (photo right), Krajewski said: “Keith Matune is the clear choice for State Representative. He is the conservative, grassroots Republican that will truly represent the values of the 81st District. Keith is a trusted teacher and school board member who is on the forefront of increased academic standards, accountability, and fiscal responsibility. We are proud to endorse Keith Matune for Illinois State Representative.”
Of the endorsement Matune stated, “It is an honor to be endorsed by DGTRO. These are my neighbors and true Republicans who not only know me, but have known my opponent throughout his long career as an elected official. It is true that all politics are local, and this organization is a stronghold for the future of conservatism in the state. The Committeemen and women of DGTRO recognize that I am the candidate talking about issues that impact middle class families, while my opponent is stuck in the past, choosing to make political hay over 20-year old mistakes.”
