“A Better Illinois” is the name of a union-financed campaign to raise Illinois' income taxes beginning in 2015. The campaign and its supporting groups are heavily tied to organized public sector labor unions, and the effort is being staffed by big names in state and national Democratic politics.
The organization has no existence outside of its website address, which is registered to Anders Lindall, spokesman for public sector union AFSCME Council 31. Since its proposal to raise taxes has not yet qualified for the ballot, the organization is not yet required to disclose its donors and spending. Should the measure qualify, it will be required to do so in accordance with Illinois campaign finance law.
