Before the first Obama inauguration in 2009, the Left and Right often had huge policy debates. But until now, the Left usually gave lip service to the concept of the rule of law. Now even that fundamental concept is under attack by the Left.
For example, on January 23rd, the Democratic Attorney General of Virginia, Mark Herring, after less than two weeks in office, made an unprecedented announcement: the Office of the Attorney General would not defend the Virginia Marriage Amendment but rather would join the plaintiffs in suing the Commonwealth
to overturn a law that 57% of Virginians voted to add this law to the Virginia Constitution.
Far left politicians across the nation are taking their cues from the lawlessness of the Obama Administration that makes up amendments as it goes along with no vote in Congress. The logical conclusion is that the Left is so arrogant that its position is always right, they no longer defend even the basic concept of the rule of law and are waging war against the concept and the personal liberties of all citizens.
Last fall, the Obama Administration and Democratic allies in Congress said it was time for Republicans to accept that Obamacare was the law and give up attempts to amend it. That was before the President himself initiated a whole series of changes in the Obamacare law by executive fiat and without even consulting Congress.
