Despite the snow, the SpeakOut Illinois 2014 conference took place in Rosemont today. The event included a political panel with Joe Walsh, Rev. Bob Vanden Bosch, and State Rep. Tom Morrison. There was a discussion about Obamacare with C. Steven Tucker and Dr. Barbara Bellar; and a religious freedom panel that included Eric Scheidler.
The Henry Hyde Life Leadership Award was presented to Shawn Carney, Campaign Director for 40 Days for Life. In 2004, Shawn helped to lead the first-ever 40 Days for Life campaign in College Station, Texas. Beginning in 2007, Shawn helped to expand 40 Days for Life as a national and then international movement. Today 40 Days for Life has been done in 501 cities in all 50 states and 19 countries including England, Germany, Australia, Canada, Uganda, and Russia.
