State Senator Kirk Dillard (R-Burr Rudge) announced his endorsement by the Illinois Education Association this morning at a press conference. The IEA said they scheduled endorsement interview sessions with Dillard, Dan Rutherford and Bill Brady. Bruce Rauner did not choose to be interviewed. Brady ended up canceling due to bad weather and the IEA made their final choice between Dillard and Rutherford. The endorsement is for the GOP primary only.
UPDATE x1: GOP opponent Bruce Rauner responded: “It’s no surprise that a twenty-year Springfield insider like Kirk Dillard would seek and receive the endorsement of a government union that typically backs Democrats and opposes pro-student reforms while supporting a massive tax hike. This endorsement is a clear reminder to Republican primary voters that Kirk Dillard is part of the problem and will not fundamentally shake up Springfield.”
