LOMBARD - Attorney Peter Breen's effort to protect citizens against abuse from the Internal Revenue Service is a selling point one group is using to challenge longtime incumbent State Rep. Sandy Pihos in the March 18th GOP primary.
Last summer as news of the IRS scandal made headlines, Breen provided information to Illinois Congressman Aaron Schock about conservative groups that were targeted by the IRS. Schock subsequently used the information to challenged IRS representatives during Congressional hearings.
Liberty Principles PAC, an independent expenditure group headed by WLS 890 AM talk show host Dan Proft, focuses on Breen's experience and expertise in a campaign piece hitting 48th House District Republican mailboxes this week. Reports show the Liberty Principles PAC spent almost $7000 on the mailer.
Featured on the piece is this interview in which Fox News Meghan Kelly interviews Breen:
In addition to the Liberty Principles PAC, groups such as Family PAC and the Pro-Life Victory Committee are supporting Breen's effort. Individuals such as Otto Engineering's Jack Roeser, U-Line CEO Dick Uihlein and Chicago Bears owner Virginia McCaskey have written checks to Breen's campaign. Breen has loaned himself $25,000 for his campaign.
