About 250 loyal Illinois Republicans listened to 2016 Presidential hopeful Bobby Jindal Tuesday night at the Union League Club in Chicago. The fundraiser for the Illinois Republican Party was hosted by party chairman Jack Dorgan, and GOP 10th CD candidate Bob Dold introduced Governor Jindal. The room was full of elected officials, candidates and big donors. The only gubernatorial candidate to attend was State Senator Bill Brady.
Jindal spoke on a variety of subjects, including the economy, minimum wage, and education. He stressed charter schools, vouchers and school choice. His big applause line was, "I don't know if President Obama is the most liberal president or the most incompetent." He went on to say, "To steal a line from Hillary Clinton, 'What difference does it make?'"
Illinois Republicans have high hopes for November and having Jindal in Chicago was a boost to its campaign coffers. Thursday, another GOP governor hits Chicago - Nikki Haley from South Carolina will be speaking at the University of Chicago in the morning, then heading to a lunch fundraiser downtown.
