SPRINGFIELD - Despite objections from Repubicans, the Democrat-controlled Illinois House voted 62-48 Tuesday to approved Gov. Pat Quinn's (D) request for more time before he delivers his annual budget address.
In a 62-48 vote, the House passed the measure moving the annual budget speech from Feb. 19 to March 26, which puts it after the March 18 primary election.
Republican State Rep. Ron Sandack (photo right) was among those Republicans raising objections. He called Quinn's request "an overtly political bad decision."
The measure now heads to the state Senate.
