LEESBURG, VA - The son of a former Illinois congressman was sentenced to 12 years in prison Friday for selling oxycodone pills to high school students and recent high school graduates in Loudoun County over several years — including one young man who fatally overdosed after taking the powerful narcotic.
U.S. District Judge Liam O'Brady imposed the jail time on George Washington Crane V, 48, of Leesburg, Virginia, the son of former Congressman Phil Crane. O'Brady said Crane is “an enormous danger to our community” who needs to be locked away until he is old enough to stop selling drugs.
Congressman Crane served Illinois' 8th CD from 1969 to 2005, when he lost to Democrat challenger Melissa Bean.
