WASHINGTON DC - Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Convention, said before the March for Life 2014 Wednesday morning in DC the "Republican Party is the Pro-Life Party." The Democratic National Party attacked the RNC for taking time to March for Life.
"...This was an easy decision for our party to make. We suspended the [winter] meeting for a short time for our members that obviously want to be a part of the March could go. We're going to have buses going over from the hotel to the March," he told a gathering of prolifers.
"We're the Pro-Life Party. This should not be earth-shattering news that the RNC is supporting the March for Life. Obviously, people are very appreciative of what we did, but quite frankly, I thought it something very natural for our Party to do.
"And so look, I want to make you proud of this party. I know we've got a lot of work to do. You need to know that 90 percent of my world is in the mechanical world - building a year round ground operation. We're trying to make an RNC that isn't a national party that shows up about once every four years a few months before an election and expects to do well...
"...It's about a party that has to stand on our platform and its principles. You don't stand on things you believe in and then say you don't believe them. There's not much value in an organization like that. And that's why being with you here this morning was an easy decision, but it's an important decision because life is important.
"And you know, Psalm 139 says we were known while we were knit in our own mother's womb. If you're a Psalm 139 Republican like me, it's a great day. Thank you very much, God bless you."
