It is being reported that the Illinois Education Association (IEA) held a candidate endorsement screening over the weekend. GOP gubernatorial candidates Kirk Dillard and Dan Rutherford participated. Bruce Rauner and Bill Brady declined.
The IEA represents 130,000 grade- and high-school teachers, college professors and other school staff outside Chicago, and is considered an influential union, especially downstate.
Dillard received the backing of the IEA when he ran for Governor in 2010.
