Authorities say Dinesh D'Souza, whose 2012 hit documentary criticized Barack Obama, broke federal finance laws when D'Souza donated more than allowed to a college friend who was running for U.S. Senator in New York.
According to the indictment, D'Souza donated $20,000 to Republican Wendy Long's campaign by aggregating the money from various people and falsely reporting the source of the funds.
Gerald Molen, a co-producer of 2016, says the charge is politically motivated. Via Hollywood Reporter
