CHICAGO – The Illinois Republican Party put out a rare press release on Friday, reiterating the fact that the state's 8.7 percent jobless rate is the 4th worst of any state. Only Michigan (8.8%), Nevada (9.0%), and Rhode Island (9.0%) were worse.
“Workers and families are paying the price for a decade of one-party Democrat control in Illinois,” Illinois GOP chairman Jack Dorgan said. “Good jobs and economic opportunity are critical for the future of our state, but under Pat Quinn, Illinois is falling further and further behind.”
“Pat Quinn’s poor leadership in Illinois is costing us jobs,” Dorgan said. “With unpaid bills, broken budgets, and job-killing tax hikes, it’s no wonder competing states are actively trying to lure jobs away from Illinois. Illinois needs a change at the top, and a Republican governor to clean up this mess.”
Four Republicans are vying for the GOP nomination in the March 18, 2014 primary.
