WAUKEGAN, IL – Volunteers from Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Korean-American Friendship Network joined together this week in Waukegan for a winter coat donation event that distributed hundreds of warm winter coats to local families. Residents from all corners of Lake County came to be fitted for new coats during the 3-hour event.
“We are so happy to add the Lake County coat donation to our four-year effort to bring thousands of winter coats to families in need all across the Midwest. Thank you to Bob Dold for his work to bring our groups together for this wonderful event. It was amazing to touch so many lives in a single afternoon,” said Dr. Jin Choi of the Korean-American Friendship Network.
“We are grateful for the kindness shown by the Korean-American Friendship Network and people like Bob Dold, who help us extend our reach during the harsh winter months as we work to serve more than 46,000 Lake County residents,” said John Ryan, Chief of Staff of the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
“The generosity the Korean-American Friendship Network and Catholic Charities of Lake County is a remarkable example of the positive impact we can have by working together to help friends and neighbors in our communities,” said Bob Dold, Illinois 10th District Congressional candidate.
Beyond the event, Dold is encouraging members of the community, his staff and supporters to take their generosity one step further and donate new or gently used coats, hats and gloves at the Dold for Congress Campaign Headquarters in Libertyville. All donated items will go to benefit those served by the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
