CHAMPAIGN - In an email sent to supporters the same day as the pension vote was taken in Springfield, Democratic candidate for Treasurer Mike Frerichs revealed his plan to invest tax dollars in union jobs such as bridge building and road repair, as well as in environmentalist-approved green companies.
Doing that with tax dollars is "working for the middle class," he said. And according to Frerichs, that will happen only if a Democrat takes the office back.
Frerichs rolled out a new campaign website Friday, and urged folks to take a look. Despite his commitment to union labor, told Illinois Review his website was not built by a union builder. We're not sure there are any website builder unions - yet, anyway.
Two Republicans - State Rep. Tom Cross and DuPage County Auditor Bob Grogan - are also running to replace Republican State Treasurer Dan Rutherford, who is running for Governor.
