WASHINGTON DC - Saturday afternoon, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) swept the annual Values Voter Summit straw poll for the 2016 presidential race. Announced by Family Research Council leader Tony Perkins, Cruz took 42% of the vote, Dr. Ben Carson came in second at 13%, one vote ahead of former Senator Rick Santorum, also at 13%. U.S. Senator Rand Paul received 6% of the vote and U.S. Senator Marco Rubio came in at 5%.
The issue most pressing to those voting is protecting religious freedoms, then ending abortion in America. Third was defunding Obamacare.
