SPRINGFIELD - As part of the state's preparation to issue concealed carry permits in 2014, the Illinois State Police (ISP) approved and posted a list of 950 approved concealed carry course instructors, located throughout the state.
In order to be accepted and listed with the ISP, an instructor first had to submit a full set of electronic fingerprints. After a Concealed Carry Firearms Instructor Fee Live Scan Authorization Form was filled out, the instructors were issued a Transaction Control Number (TCN).
After submitting an online approval application, the applicants printed an application form, notarized by a Notary Public. They then mailed the completed signature form and a Copy of Firearms Instructor Certification(s), as well as a completed Concealed Carry Instructor Live Scan Authorization Form, to the ISP.
When the process was completed, the instructors' names were added to the ISP's online database, now located HERE.
