CHICAGO - A common theme within Illinois Republican circles is the criticism that the Party's conservative base is "too obsessed" with social issues advanced by the Democrats in the General Assembly (e.g. abortion, sex education, gay marriage, etc.). The division was seen this past spring when conservatives allegedly forced former Illinois Republican Party chairman Pat Brady to step down from his position.
Since then Brady himself has become involved in social issues - for the left - taking a job with the ACLU to lobby for gay marriage. This morning, he tweeted out a link to Chicago Sun-Times pro-gay marriage editorial:
