WASHINGTON DC - Despite things being tense on Capitol Hill, two Illinoisans - former Democratic U.S. Senator Alan Dixon and former Republican State Senator Mark Rhoads - had a chance to share a laugh this week in D.C. that was captured for posterity.
Both Dixon and Rhoads have newly-released books, and the two exchanged autographed books on Capitol Hill, Rhoads told Illinois Review. "I have no idea what was so funny at that moment, Rhoads said, "But my sister Cheryl took the photo with her phone."
Rhoads not only is past president of the Illinois State Society, a non-partisan group that brings together Illinoisans in D.C., he was formerly a Chicago Sun-Times' editorial writer and has contributed to Illinois Review since its inception in 2005.
