BLOOMINGTON, IL - Earlier today, GOP gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner denied involvement in a negative ad campaign earlier this year, which many believe was designed to keep Congressman Aaron Schock from running for governor of Illinois.
"That is absolutely false. That's political rumor mill baloney," Rauner told the interviewer. "I like Aaron Schock I have supported [sic], I've donated to his campaigns in the past. I think very highly of him."
Schock's campaign manager Steven Shearer isn't convinced, and told Illinois Review:
"Bruce Rauner's carefully chosen words he used to deny his role in the ads aired against Congressman Aaron Schock last winter are akin to Bill Clinton's question about the definition of the word 'is' before a grand jury when asked about the truth of a previous Clinton answer to a question."
