PLAINFIELD - Just a few weeks ago, then-Minority Leader Tom Cross (R-Plainfield) indicated he would not be seeking re-election to the Illinois House. The House Republicans convened and picked State Rep. Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs) to take over Cross' leadership role as the caucus heads into the next election cycle.
After Cross' announcement, former DuPage County Board Chairman Bob Schillerstrom dropped out of the GOP 2014 race for state treasurer and endorsed Cross for the spot.
Despite a reportedly animated meeting with Cross, DuPage County Auditor Bob Grogan chose to stay in the race for state treasurer and is picking up endorsements throughout the state. Wednesday, the powerful and active Republican Women of Wheeling Township indicated their support for Grogan over Cross.
