WASHINGTON - Thursday, during a congressional hearing on the September 11, 2012 massacre in Benghazi, one of the victim's mothers, Patricia Smith, shared with lawmakers that Hillary Clinton, Vice President Joe Biden, Ambassador Susan Rice and the President himself all told her "it was the video." Those words were in response to Ms. Smith's question, "What happened?" at the ceremony when her son Sean Smith's casket arrived back on American soil.
Ms. Smith's testimony Thursday recalling that day in 2012 was emotional and compelling - but both of Illinois' delegation on Rep. Darrell Issa's investigative hearing committee left just before Ms. Smith spoke. Neither military veteran Tammy Duckworth (IL-08) nor Danny Davis (IL-07) remained in the room when the victims' family members shared their distress.
