In a press release, Grogan cited his credentials as a CPA, noting “We need a financial professional watching over our tax dollars. If you were hiring a treasurer for your business, you would look for someone with financial expertise. Doesn’t it make sense for the State of Illinois to do the same?”
Grogan pointed to his record as Auditor, where he boasts his leadership in government transparency and his efforts to root out misspending and fraud. “The message I am hearing is clear,” he said. “People want someone trustworthy and qualified to watch over their money.”
Grogan has been twice elected Auditor of DuPage County, the second largest county in Illinois, with a population of almost one million people. In addition to being a CPA, he is also a Certified Fraud Examiner.
