Two rallies - one in Elgin and one in Downers Grove - took to the streets in the ongoing debate over whether Illinois should redefine marriage by legalizing gay marriage. State Rep Greg Harris (D-Chicago) continues to postpone voting until enough House members commit to his effort to make Illinois the 11th state allowing same sex couples to marry.
During the rallies, State Rep. Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove) - who says he will support legalizing gay marriage - visited with those protesters outside his district office both for and against SB 10. Illinois Family Institute's executive director David E. Smith reports nearly 300 opposing same sex marriage, and 50 supporting it, came out on Saturday morning.
