PHILADELPHIA - During the last day of prosecution in the Dr. Kermit Gosnell murder case, a former abortion clinic staffer testified that Gosnell and his staff once tossed a breathing newborn that had survived a failed abortion into a shoe box.
Staffer Kareema Cross told a jury in Philadelphia that she saw at least 10 newborns breathing after botched abortions, after which, she said, Gosnell snipped their spinal cords. Cross took photos to document what she witnessed.
The horror stories coming from the Gosnell trial grew more and more gruesome as the trial progressed, but coverage of the trial was for the most part blacked out by the major networks. The silence was so disconcerting, a group of 70 Congress members reached out to the networks.
One Congress member from Illinois - Democrat Dan Lipinski - signed onto a letter Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn sent to ABC, CBS and NBC Wednesday. The letter requested the networks cover two major stories ignored in the past few weeks - Planned Parenthood advocating infanticide in Florida and Dr. Kermit Gosnell's "House of Horrors" abortion clinic in Philadelphia.
