SPRINGFIELD - No one under the age of 18 will be able to enter a tanning booth in Illinois - with or without parents permission - if HB 188 becomes law. The bill passed with an overwhelming majority and votes from both sides of the aisle Thursday afternoon in the Illinois House. It will now proceed to the Senate.
On a related issue, girls under the age of 18 are freely able to obtain surgical and pharmaceutical abortions in Illinois. The parental notification law passed over a decade ago is still not implemented in Illinois abortion clinics, awaiting action by the Illinois Supreme Court and Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan.
