Following Illinois’ annual budget address before members of the General Assembly, State Representative Joe Sosnowski (R-Belvidere) called the Governor’s plan a ‘letdown’.
“I am extremely disappointed that the Governor would propose increasing spending by $500 million more than we will take in,” said Sosnowski. “His plan does nothing to address our $9 billion backlog of unpaid bills. Instead of looking for ways to cut back, Quinn called for a massive expansion of Medicaid just one year after we struggled to downsize our Medicaid program and rein-in out of control costs. I am concerned that our financial resources are being crowded out of important services by our mounting Medicaid and pension payments.”
