CHICAGO - Chicagoans, get ready for fun and excitement as a top-tier community organizer named Lisa Fithian prepares to bring her antics to Chicago to protest proposed school closures. Six months ago, she was at the Michigan State Capitol on the floor, moaning about right to work legislation.
Thursday night, Fithian was in Chicago, preparing parents and grandparents to protest Chicago Public School closings as recorded by SEIU-supported ProgressIllinois.com - Not too far from Fithians OccupyChicagoNow gig last summer. Sponsored by the Chicago Teachers Union and the Grassroots Education Movement, Fithian was brought in to tutor protestors at St. Agatha Church, 3151 West Douglas Blvd. One has to wonder what the man in the plaid shirt and cap thinks about "taking the chance of going to jail and losing your house."
