State Sen. Michael Connelly (R-Naperville) commented on Gov. Pat Quinn's "State of the State" address, saying, “Last year, the Governor talked about a ‘rendezvous with reality.’ The sober ‘reality’ of our state’s fiscal mess is still here and continues to get worse. We are waiting for the ‘rendezvous,’”
Connelly reiterated that "he is willing to work with Gov. Quinn and his fellow lawmakers to right Illinois’ budget wrongs." "We stand ready, willing and able to work with him on things moving the state forward. Until we develop a positive, pro-jobs business environment, we are going to continue to lose jobs to states like Indiana, Iowa and Wisconsin – states we should never be losing jobs to,” he added.
