According to LGBTQnation.com, a group of Latino leaders has said legalizing same-sex marriage in Illinois would strengthen families and is “the right thing to do.”
Basing their support on "love" and "discrimination," the letter sent to lawmakers yesterday urged them to approve the same sex marraige bill proclaiming, “no member of anyone’s family, whether they’re gay or straight, should face discrimination when they hope to marry the person they love.”
Some named signers included such left-wing "leaders" as City Clerk of Chicago Miguel Del Valle, Executive Director of the Latino Policy Forum Sylvia Puente, and Jesse H. Ruiz, Vice President of the Chicago Board of Education.
However, public opinion polling has consistently shown that a large majority of latinos oppose same sex marriage.
