Killing the messenger: Feds follow Illinois in suing S&P

EconomyMore than a year after Illinois' attorney general sued rating agency Standard & Poor's for misleading investors by assigning its highest ratings to risky mortgage-backed investments, the U.S. government has filed its own civil lawsuit against the company. It's the first significant federal action against the ratings industry involving the financial crisis. The New York Times story is here.
