Bill Kelly has written an open letter to conservatives calling on them to protest an Illinois Republican Party reception for John Rowe at the Chicago Club on March 19. The reception, hosted by ILGOP Chairman Pat Brady, will also be attended by RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.
According to Kelly, the event represents a civil war currently being fought between the "country club" wing of the Illinois Republican Party and the conservative base.
On his website, Kelly writes that "Karl Rove’s new 'Conservative Victory Project' is not the first establishment GOP PAC to target conservative candidates in primary elections and it will not be the last. The new super PAC is designed, according to the New York Times, to 'recruit seasoned candidates and protect Senate incumbents from challenges by far-right conservatives and Tea Party enthusiasts who Republican leaders worry could complicate the party’s effort to win control of the Senate.'"
Kelly notes that here in Illinois "former Rep. Joe Walsh announced plans to form a Super PAC of his own to help protect social conservatives and tea party candidates against Rove’s new PAC." And, according to Kelly, this "civil war has been ramping up for a long time."
