From Chris Matthews: "If you're watching, Madam Secretary, all three of us have brilliant ideas. All of us have great ideas. And I especially put myself in that group with Joan and David. We know how to do this; we'll get you in there."
Well, there you go. What more do you want to know? Quote Chris Matthews, "Nevermore" and now let's get back to the important work of the people by creating new jobs that don't exist, making sure that everyone has the contraception that they need, and ensuring that each child has a nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner at triple the cost that it could be provided if it came from the private sector. Nothing to see here. Move along.
Chris and his media comrades have thus officially offered Hillary Clinton their professional services as the means of getting Madam Secretary elected to the presidency. Keeping in mind that Ms. Clinton has most likely been getting hundreds of applications for the most coveted position of Principle Propagandist from various elite members of the mainstream media, this particular video resume is still a standout in the sea of humdrum because Mr. Matthews applied for the position while in the midst of doing his Hardball broadcast. Hard to top that little media extravaganza.
Chutzpah, you say? No, that's what I call polemical potential. I like Chris's kind of strategic thought-leadership as he completely disregards the thinnest veneer of objectivity and rips away any remaining ethereal threads of professional neutrality with regard to politics, the government and the free press. Throw down that gauntlet, Chris and advocate for your candidate a full four years before our next presidential election. Show us all how a presidency is won and how a country is lost.
And you might ask yourself, "Does he even know which Democrat might run against her?"
And you might ask yourself, "How could he know that she's the best candidate if there are no other people running?"
And you may ask yourself, "Where does that kind of voracious and rabid loyalty lead to?"
And you might ask yourself, "My God! What have we done?"
True that. It is tempting to shake one's fist toward the Heavens and shout to the sky; "Same as it ever was!" Yet, I'm sorry to say that it is not the same as it ever was. We have never before – at least in this nation's history – witnessed such joyful and public collusion with a pledge of an electoral win (a full four years before the next presidential election, in fact) by our free press. There is something distinctly, discernibly different in this display of party loyalty and the general evolution of the Democrat Party. While it didn't begin with Madam Secretary skreeing to the backbeat of "What difference does it make," it has most certainly transformed into the Democrats' wild abandonment of independence in favor of something akin to jingoism.
And you all must know how I detest such kitschy and self-congratulatory terms like "jingoism" so you can be certain that there is simply no other word that comes close to describing the bloodthirsty zeal that liberals are expressing now that our endangered species of an election cycle has passed and they can remove the sequestering girdles to let it all hang loosey-goosey.
When Chris Matthews cooperatively endorses and offers assistance to a presidential candidate before any other presidential candidates are available for comparison, we can conclude that it really doesn't matter to the MSM or at least to MSNBC whether there is an election in 2016 or not. They have abandoned the threadbare and nearly translucent veil of impartial reporting in favor of dissemination and indoctrination. Openly, in fact.
When First Lady Michelle Obama swoops in on the Oscars to indelicately deliver the Best Picture award for Lincoln…as if the show could not have gone on without her… ho-lee-cow…we can see it as a fumbling Imelda Marcos moment, we can regard it as a gracefully Peron-esque show of power, we can recognize it as a foreshadow of our FLOTUS's possible Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner intentions, but what we cannot do is pretend that this signals the health and vigor of our Republic.
When…and I quote Fox News here:
"A George Soros-tied nonprofit that is reportedly linked to a memo that proposed using private investigators and other tough political-opposition tactics to "eviscerate" North Carolina Republican leaders. "
…you may ask yourself as Bill O'Reilly has, "Has liberalism finally won in America?"
Hard to say, I guess.
And you may ask yourself, "Will John Boehner truly fight for the Constitution that he swore to protect and uphold or will he buckle…same as he ever does…to the Left's perverse agenda of entitlements and government control."
I haven't got a clue.
And you may ask yourself "Am I right or am I wrong? Will freedom take its last dying breath or will it prevail?"
I don't know. We don't have answers to those questions. We are in that odd place of space and time where nothing has come to pass yet and all we can know for certain is that somewhere in the distant future, students are either learning about those wicked conservatives who were crushed by the forces of good so that Americans would never have to know the evils of freedom and independence again or they are learning about a close call where their ancestors nearly sacrificed the hard won blessings of liberty for security.
You can be certain that it is not "same as it ever was" because we don't know what the outcome to one of America's darkest historical periods will be. Not unlike George Washington and the Founders, not unlike Abraham Lincoln and the Republicans, all we can do is push on while praying that liberty will prevail and that the American people will finally come to their senses and embrace American Exceptionalism.
Or perhaps we can give in to the inevitable – for how could we possibly overcome such overwhelming odds when the whole of the world seems to cheer us on to failure…Letting the days go by. Let the water hold me down. Letting the days go by. Water flowing underground. Into the blue again. After the money's gone. Once in a lifetime. Water flowing underground.
