SPRINGFIELD - After the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals directed the state of Illinois to put a concealed carry law into place within 180 days, the Illinois legislature began consideration of an acceptable law for Illinois. House Speaker Mike Madigan announced a set of hearings to gather public opinion on the topic.
The first of two hearings on state gun proposals was held Tuesday, February 19, at Illinois' State Capitol. Four panels of witnesses shared their concerns with members of the Illinois House Judiciary Committee. A second hearing is scheduled for 10:00 am at the Bilandic Building in Chicago Friday morning, February 22.
