SPRINGFIELD - In an 8 to 5 vote Thursday evening, the Senate Executive Committee voted to legalize same sex marriage in Illinois.
Springfield's Bishop Paprocki testified with the measure's opponents, Illinois Family Institute lobbyists Ralph Rivera and Rev. Bob VandenBosch. Proponents included lesbian mother and gay father who said their children had suffered because their parents were not married.
More to come. The bill moves to the Senate floor for a vote as soon as Friday.
