SPRINGFIELD - With hours left on the 97th General Assembly countdown clock, State Rep. Randy Ramey (R-West Chicago) filed several official queries to slow down the progress of SB 957, which would allow Illinois to distribute drivers' licenses to illegals living in Illinois.
SB 957 passed the Illinois Senate in December and passed the House Transportation Committee Monday in a 6 to 3 vote. The next step will be a House floor vote, before being sent to the Governor's desk.
Rep. Acevedo must produce the responses to the queries before SB 957 can be voted upon on the House floor unless he can persuade Rep. Ramey to forego the queries.
The House just adjourned until 11 am January 8th, 2013.
