It has become common for Illinois' taxpayer-funded public school teachers to go on strike. The latest are the teachers in Community Consolidated School District 46 in the north
suburbs who went out on strike this morning after failing to reach an
agreement on a new contract, officials said.
“Unfortunately, the Board of Education and D46 teachers were unable to reach an agreement," the board said on its website. "The teachers have informed the district that they will be on strike beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, January 16th. Please watch the website for further updates."
The district draws students from Grayslake, Hainesville, Lake Villa, Round Lake, Round Lake Beach, Round Lake Park and Third Lake.
