CHICAGO - Illinois' top GOP officials endorsed Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus for re-election at the RNC's Winter Meeting in Charlotte North Carolina in two weeks. Priebus and other national officers including RNC Secretary Demetra DeMonte, Illinois' National Committeewoman, will be on the 2013 ballot.
Priebus is being challenged by a Maine Republican who contends Ron Paul was cheated from a presidential nomination. DeMonte, who hails from Peoria, is unopposed to be re-elected for RNC Secretary.
DeMonte, Illinois' RNC Committeeman Rich Williamson and Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady notified RNC members of their support for Priebus via email:
Dear RNC Members,
We write you today to share our full support of Reince’s bid to serve another term as RNC Chairman. As Chairman, Reince turned a RNC that was severely strained financially into a functional and operation political committee. He worked long hours restoring donor confidence, raising campaign dollars, energizing the grassroots, and delivering the Republican message.
Reince has also always been extremely willing to find time in his schedule to travel to states and help our state and local parties. From the grassroots to the grasstops, Reince understands that the Republican Party is an inclusive party and makes certain to travel and meet with all Republicans. We are especially grateful for the time and attention he devoted to the Republican Party of Illinois.
We look forward to seeing all you in Charlotte in less than two weeks and electing Reince to another term as RNC Chairman.
Sincerely,
Demetra DeMonte, Illinois National Committeewoman, RNC Secretary
Rich Williamson, Illinois National Committeeman
Pat Brady, Illinois Chairman
