If Lipinski is prolife, why did he vote twice against repealing Obamacare?

CHICAGO - Congressman Dan Lipinski (IL-3) has confused Democrats, Catholics and prolifers with his Yes/No positions on Obamacare - officially called the Affordable Care Act (ACA). At one time the Congressman, who now is under consideration to be ambassador to the Vatican, joined with fellow prolife Democrat Bart Stupak to oppose taxpayer funding of abortion in the ACA. In March 2010, Lipinski opposed concurring with the Senate version of Obamacare, although then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi delivered HR 3590 with 219 Democrat "yes" votes over 214 "no". Lipinski was one of 34 Democrats to vote "No" on HR 3590.

Then after Republicans won the House majority back in November 2010, the new House Speaker John Boehner voted in January 2011 to repeal Obamacare. The House voted 245–189 to approve a bill entitled "Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act" (H.R.2), which, if enacted, would repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the health care-related text of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010. All Republicans and 3 Democrats voted "yes" to repeal. Congressman Lipinski voted "no."
