TINLEY PARK - Thursday morning, over 100 Chicago area pastors heard from former lesbian Chicagoan Linda Jernigan, who said homosexuality is a behavior that can change, and thus, shouldn't be included in the civil rights debate. Jernigan said her life demonstrates that sexual orientation is not like other non-changeable attributes, such as skin color or natural gender. Jernigan has been straight for 13 years, and has become an evangelist, speaking openly about her life in a gay relationship.
Jernigan is working with Illinois Family Institute presenting legislative forums this week in Chicago, Peoria and Collinsville. A lobby day in opposition to State Rep. Greg Harris (D-Chicago) same sex marriage legalization is scheduled for February 20th in Springfield.
