CHARLOTTE - Friday, Illinois' National Committeewoman Demetra DeMonte (Peoria) was re-elected to serve another term as the Republican National Committee Secretary at the RNC's 2013 Winter Meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina.
DeMonte told Illinois Review she was honored to be re-elected and to have her nomination seconded by 15 fellow committee members.
First elected in to the position in 2011 when Wisconsin's Reince Preibus won the RNC chairmanship, DeMonte ran unopposed for re-election, but reached out to every committee member to ask for his or her support in Friday's election.
The RNC also decided they would revisit at the April 2013 meeting the controversial rules change made at the national 2012 convention affecting how delegates are chosen. The new RNC's Rules Committee will be in place at that time.
