Not surprisingly, reaction to the news that the Illinois Republican Party Chairman has been making calls to GOP state legislators in support of the gay marriage bill has been...strong. Dave Smith, Executive Director of Illinois Family Action, which has been leading the fight against the bill told Illinois Review: "It is a sad day in Illinois when the Catholic Chairman of the Illinois Republican Party turns his back on his Party's platform and the orthodox teachings of his Church to side with cultural Marxists like President Obama, Gov. Quinn, and Mayor Emanuel in promoting the redefinition of marriage. Brady should step down immediately."
Other 2012 ILGOP Platform Committee members contacted IR. However their comments will not be published publicly.
(UPDATE: Thursday, two other platform committee members stepped forward to challenge Brady's comments)

On a related note, the Daily Kos is claiming that "homophobic robocalls" are being made about the Illinois gay marriage bill. They offer no proof of the calls other than an anecdotal recollection. Likely a fake story to help their fundraising, which is not unusual for them.
