CHICAGO - The Chicago Republican Party, in partnership with the City’s Republican Committeemen of the second congressional district, is sponsoring a debate of the Republican congressional candidates seeking to fill the vacant seat of Jesse Jackson Jr.
The debate is Tuesday, February 5th, 2013 and will be moderated by WVON 1690 talk show host Cliff Kelley with input from the congressional district’s Chicago GOP Committeemen: Emil Coccaro (Ward 5), Juan Antonio Diaz (Ward 7), Margarite Faulkner (Ward 8), Wayland Johnson, Jr. (Ward 9), Tom Malesh (Ward 10), and Percy Coleman (Ward 34).
Candidates confirmed to participate in the debate are Lenny McAllister of Maywood, Paul McKinley of Chicago, James Taylor, Sr. of Bradley and Dr. Eric Wallace of Flossmoor.
The forum will be held at the Unity Hall at The Cafe', 13350 South Halsted in Riverdale from 7:30 to 9:00 pm. All interested members of the district are invited to attend and hear from the Republican candidates personally, as the debate is open to the public and free of charge.
The primary takes place on February 26th, 2013 and the general election will take place on Tuesday, April 9, 2013.
"In voting for the winning Republican candidate, residents of the 2nd congressional district will have the opportunity to send to Congress a representative who will be in the majority party in the United States House of Representatives," the Chicago GOP said.
