Names are beginning to emerge as to who may throw their hat in the race for the 2014 Attorney General race, especially if Lisa Madigan decides to make a run for governor. Today, Crain's Greg Hinz writes that Democrat House Speaker Mike Madigan (photo right) is losing nearly a dozen staffers - most headed for lobbying gigs. Speculation is that Madigan is sending signals he's getting ready to exit in prep for his daughter's run for Governor.
If true, the question becomes who might be interested in the open AG position?
Several months ago we reported that Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran (R) is very interested in a run. We've also heard that State Senator Kirk Dillard may decide to try for AG instead of governor, depending on what the younger Madigan decides to do. Another possible Republican candidate may be Lombard's acting mayor and trustee Peter Breen.
We're waiting to hear of others. Who do you think should run from the Republican side. And who would you support?Any other names you're hearing for the spot, and who would you support?
