These tragedies must end … and Barack Obama is just the guy to make that happen. Of that, I'm absolutely certain. Do not doubt even for a moment that President Obama has a very specific action plan in mind for how to – well, it won't actually end the kind of senseless violence that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday, but we will all feel better knowing that our president gave us a cosmetic solution to the gangrenous decay that disturbs and infects the collective American psyche.
Our president had a solution for Friday's violence in mind decades before some random General Electric executive even thought of forsaking his unstable wife and children to hang out in Stamford with his new librarian bride. Not that this has anything to do with Friday's violence, as you well know. Peter Lanza's meanderings through morality, Nancy Lanza's odd obsession with anarchy, Adam Lanza's Goth-fixations have no bearing on the situation whatsoever. No. It's guns… the utensils used for Adam's violence that should concern us, and we should not bother considering how a twenty year old man came to a place in his mind where the sociopathic self-absorption of killing kindergarteners and then himself seemed preferable to growing up and getting a clue.
Right. Asperger's syndrome. Shame on me. We must not cast any blame on the perpetrator or his dysfunctional family members. People weren't responsible. He couldn't help himself. His father had nothing to do with it. His mother didn't either. It was the guns.
And lucky for the nation's resident gun control crowd, there's no shortage of self-absorbed Americans who will willingly invent and reinvent this tragedy to give progressivism the arsenal it needs to repeal the Second Amendment. After all, doesn't history show there is no cultural crisis that can't be made worse with a little more government intervention? I can't wait to hand even more control over the people who can't even run the post office.
I suspect that it dawned on our president as he hugged his own daughters a little tighter and wept the bitter tears of innocence lost…an image that he often reinforces in the minds of the citizenry after some nut job decides to massacre mankind in the name of gothic dystopia…that he has at last found himself in a crisis situation that requires him to act extra-constitutionally in order to implement new regulations for our uncivilized society.
Yes. No doubt. Our agitator-in-chief is just the guy to reestablish civility in this country. Give him free reign. That's exactly what the Founders were hoping for when they gave the nation a document for protected freedom which included the right to bear arms. The Bill of Rights was just a stopgap until the right kind of humanitarian came along to lead us into social equity. By all means, let's be Argentina.
Don't misunderstand. I am on the same page with Barack Obama on this one point. These tragedies must end, but relieving the American people of their constitutional rights…which is what he is talking about when he says, "These tragedies must end, and to end them we must change"…will not make law abiding citizens more secure. It will make them more vulnerable. It will destabilize our nation even further.
Oh. No. No. He's not going to change all the gun laws. Not at first. No. He's not looking to regulate the peace-loving possum hunters, mind you. We're just going to pare down that pesky Second Amendment a little…you know, tweak it. Make it more relevant to the realities of American violence because it's the semi-automatic weapons that are the problem. The children of Sandy Hook Elementary would be alive today were it not for the NRA and those gun toting, bible thumping conservatives pushing their agenda.
Forget that a Sandy Hook tragedy could occur in this nation every day and still not match the violence against children that the nation turns its back on in the name of personal choice. As a matter of fact, you would need to have one Sandy Hook styled tragedy occur every hour of every day to match the number of Americans who are killed via abortion on an annual basis. Do you suppose that Barack Obama is hugging his daughters tighter over that statistic? Does he weep over the tragic loss of those particular children? Heck no. He's expanding access to abortions and making you fund them. There are 3,600 abortions performed in this country every week. That's 514 children who die violent deaths every day. You could fill an entire school with the children who will be killed just today during an abortion.
I will not sit through a lecture on the sanctity of human life by any politician, community organizer or thirty year old grad student who advocates the health care mandates which will expand the big business of child slaughter in this nation. Trampling on constitutionally protected freedoms to save 20 children from violence while pushing requirements which will facilitate violence against 500 different children rings a little hollow, don't you think?
I will not listen to the mournful pleas by our the instant gratification pop culture moguls and celebrities who fill thousands upon thousands of television and radio hours with glorified sex, violence and drugs about how guns are the problem in this country.
I will not tolerate the pulsating "tisk-tisks" from the videogame developers, the novelists, the moviemakers and the gangbanging death-rappers who feed sloth, perversion, romanticized vampires, sexy zombies, holocausts, Armageddon, glorified schizophrenia, occultism and global warming doomsday scenarios to our children but can't seem to understand why those children grow to be adults who can no longer feel emotion. And I will not listen to the parents who allow their children to consume this mind-sludge either.
These tragedies must end. The president is right. To end them, we must transform our culture back to a humdrum, Wonder Bread, middleclass society that is grounded in morality, that is laced and peppered with God, that preserves and defends natural law and that truly loves and respects the sanctity of life from its conception to its natural death.
That is the solution. That is the only solution.
