Tamms Correctional to close January 3

Senator Dave Luechtefeld, who has led a battle to keep the Tamms Correctional Center open was notified today it is closing January 3, along with the Illinois Youth Center. Governor Pat Quinn ordered the closure and the AFSCME union filed suit, delaying the closure. Last week, the judge allowed the closure to proceed, along with other state prisons throughouot the state.
