SPRINGFIELD - State Senate Republican Leader Chris Radogno and House Republican Leader Tom Cross will participate in a press conference at the State Capitol Tuesday to announce their support for drivers licenses to be issued to immigrants that entered America illegally. Newly re-elected to leadership in their caucuses, Radogno and Cross' support for SB 957 will likely head the legislation to Governor Quinn's desk.
Last Thurday, Radogno joined the list of SB 957's chief Senate co-sponsors, now including John J. Cullerton - Christine Radogno - John J. Millner - Antonio Muñoz - Iris Y. Martinez, Don Harmon, Terry Link, Michael Noland, Steven M. Landek, Heather A. Steans, Toi W. Hutchinson, Ira I. Silverstein, Linda Holmes, Emil Jones, III, William E. Brady, Jeffrey M. Schoenberg, Donne E. Trotter and Ron Sandack.
The proposal will add Illinois to a small handful of states that issue drivers' licenses to non-citizens.
