Whether there is hope for the nation is above my pay grade. But it is crystal clear that there is no hope for educating Barack Obama about the inflexible laws of economics. Obama and the 60 million naive Americans who voted for him must think they can repeal the laws of economics by waving a magic wand. That cannot be done, no matter how big a majority favors it, because it is beyond the power of any government. Just ask Europe.
But Obama has a childish and gargantuan personal vanity, even for a politician, and he thinks if only Republicans roll over for him, he can tax and spend as much as he wants. He is too foolish to understand that even if Republicans give him every vote he wants, he will still fail because the high tax and spend policy cannot work much longer. He has the hubris to imagine that because he won the election, he now can wish away the consequences of more spending and higher taxes. But if he tries to stay on the same path now, the crash is coming no matter what he says or does and every American will suffer, especially those who were most loyal to him. Wealthy Americans can move overseas but food stamp recipients are usually stuck where they live. Barack Obama, meet Herbert Hoover. I do not mean this as a slander against Mr. Hoover who was a kind and decent Quaker and a humanitarian who helped feed the children of Europe after World War I. But the crash of 1929 could look like the proverbial Sunday picnic compared to the plan of destruction Obama has in mind for free enterprise. America might be able to survive as a free nation for the next 50 months until January 2017 but it is going to be a rocky time.
