At Tuesday night's meeting of the Whiteside county board, by a vote of 15-11, a resolution was passed in support of concealed carry and House Bill 148. Prior to the vote a petition effort in support of concealed carry was undertaken in Whiteside county by myself, Amanda Norris of the Sauk Valley Tea Party, and Whiteside county resident Duane Blaufus. Over the course of several weeks nearly 550 Whiteside county residents signed the petition. Whiteside county now joins the 10 Illinois counties that voted in favor of concealed carry on their November 6th referendum and Ogle County, which will put the question of concealed carry on the April ballot.
Following the vote Amanda Norris stated that, "It may seem like a small victory, but it is a sign that persistence does pay off!"
A special thanks needs to be given to the fine folks of Rigler's Sporting Goods in Rock Falls for helping to collect many of the Whiteside county petition signatures.
Slowly put surely, one county at a time, Illinois is sending a message to Springfield and to the anti-gun liberals in and around Chicago. Illinois' days as the only state that doesn't allow its citizens to carry a concealed firearm are numbered.
